Ladies National Top Club 2025

I am oh so proud of everyone who played today in the National Top Club.

We were up against a very strong team from Coventry Avenue which included 5 of the top 24 Warwickshire County bowlers.

We played a single; a pair; a triple and a four.

Narrowly lost the single which was a great result because we only lost two shots overall..

The pair were up against a (top 8 placed)  Warwickshire bowler- lost but not by too many shots and they fought well.

The four won handsomely- well done. Much to Cov ave surprise!  27/11 score.

The triple, last to finish, had a chance to win the game overall going into the last end only one shot down. Two shots needed to win the match, sadly we got just one so it ended as a draw on that rink. ( I was skip and sadly I didn't get that one extra shot we needed).Drew 15 all.

The actual shots score overall was Nuneaton 72. Coventry Avenue 72. Could not have been closer!

Well done Nuneaton ladies. We keep on surprising them...

Cheers

Para Assessment Day 25th May

Sunday 25th May Nuneaton Bowling Club in Higham Lane, Nuneaton was delighted to host the Para Assessment Day for Bowls England. The Performance Management Team and International Scouts were assessing players for possible selection to take part in the 2025 Para Home Nations International Series.

Bowls England had invited players from all over England with a physical disability or visual impairment with a formal Bowls Classification (B1-B8) and the directors for players with a visual impairment to nominate themselves for a place at this event. It was an opportunity for these bowlers to showcase their skills for possible selection to this year’s International Para events. Bowlers came from very far and wide to this event.

With the Club and surrounds looking amazing 42 bowlers together with their directors, friends and family spent the day from 9.00 am until late afternoonproducing some incredible bowling. Many club bowlers can only dream of bowling to the standard that was on display at Nuneaton. Two sessions were played, one game of 15 ends on all 6 rinks in the morning and after mixing up the teams a second game of 15 ends in the afternoon.

Nuneaton Bowling Club would like to wish all those talented Para Bowlers good luck in the selection process.

Manned by volunteers the Club offered for sale bacon or sausage breakfast batches from 8.30 until 10.30. Lunchtime the menu was a variety of sandwiches and batches with Teas, Coffees and the Licensed bar available all day. Other volunteers from the Club were on hand to help everywhere and I think the phrase of the day was “mind the step” as the ‘Step Marshalls’ stood guard all day over the entrance to the Clubhouse. No one got in or out without “mind the step”. Altogether an amazing and very happy day in Nuneaton.
